Lilies are long lasting flowers that take a few days to open depending on the room temperature. Clean water and the absence of leaves in the vase water are essential to the longevity of the lily. It is important to remove the stamens in a lily. As the lily matures they will turn powdery, drop, and stain whatever touches them (example a table cloth).  If this should happen, it is crucial not to rub the stain, but to use tape to get rid of the residue first. The tape will help pick up the powdery stamen and make the stain easier to clean.

Asiatic Lilies : Asiatic lilies have small blooms and are non fragrant. They are similar to a tiger lily.
Oriental Lilies : Oriental lilies, such as stargazer lilies are fragrant and have a larger bloom size.
